Adviser to Prime Minister for Interior issues, Ex senator Abdul Rehman Malik has now hinted about the opening of world’s most widely used video uploading service “YouTube” in Pakistan. The site could be reopened, and the ban may be lifted, but only after the access to anti-Islamic content has been restricted.
While talking to media, Malik said, “There is an immense pressure on me to resume YouTube. Whenever I open my Twitter account, there is a flood of messages to resume YouTube in Pakistan, U tube [YouTube] is also wealth of knowledge but hurt the feelings of Muslims. I promise to raise the issue in the cabinet to reopen it minus anti-Islam material.”
The service was banned over a month ago for releasing a blasphemous video about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Malik tweeted from his Twitter account that he will raise the issue of reopening YouTube in the upcoming cabinet meetings.
He also explained his thoughts by giving an example that if there is a filthy book in a library then only that book should be removed from the library as it’s not appropriate to close down the whole library. “If there is any anti-Islamic content then it should be removed,” the advisor said.
It should also be mentioned that the advisor Rehman Malik is also facing a wide criticism now a days, for his infamous actions for the blockage of mobile phone service on the holy occasion of Eid.
