We all heard the ISI conspiracy regarding the latest Salman Khan flick, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ .One may conclude that the ban against the movie by PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) might damage its climb in the box office competition but surprisingly, the film – released on August 15 – managed to cross the Rs. 100 crore.
Directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Aditya Chopra; the enthusiastic Bollywood fans had high expectations from the movie as it was the first film starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif after their break up two years ago. The film did not premiere in any of the cinemas in Pakistan and with the amount of success it has achieved yet, one can only imagine how far would have it gone if PEMRA had not taken the bold decision. Despite director Kabir Khan’s dismissal of the rumors that his project is anti-ISI, PEMRA has made it clear that Bollywood better not target ISI in its industry in any way possible in order to market from Pakistan.
Considering the fact that Salman’s previous three films – Dabangg, Ready and Bodyguard – were also a huge hit in Pakistan, it won’t be a surprise if ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ continues to make profits worldwide while Pakistani Cinemas face the loss by not screening it.
