Meera & Laila to contest in Elections 2013

As the election fever covers the country, a few Lollywood heartthrobs which includes Meera and Laila, have jumped into the field of politics. At the time when Political powers are aroused to become large stake holder of the assemblies, Lollywood actresses have also shown their interest in the political activities and have decided to contest in the upcoming general elections.

Meera plans to become Punjab Assembly member on one of the reserved seats for women. Speaking to media, Meera’s mother Shafqat Zehra said that her daughter would take part in the upcoming elections on one of the reserved seats for women in the provincial assembly.“Yesterday Meera telephoned me from India and asked ‘mom please get nomination paper as I want to be elected’,” Said Meera’s mother. On the other hand, Laila said she will contest elections on a general seat from Lahore.

Earlier on March 25, Laila has announced to join All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) of Pervez Musharraf. The actress also said that she will not contest election but she will be elected against women’s special quota. She has already conceived for Pervez Musharraf to get enough seats to be offered women seats. Elaborating her decision to take part in the elections, Laila said that she wanted to take part in the elections as it was the best way to serve nation and women.
