Welcome 2 Karachi

The director of Akshay Kumar starrer Khiladi 786, Ashish R Mohan presents his next Bollywood movie ‘Welcome 2 Karachi,’ which features Arshad Warsi and Jackky Bhagnani in leading roles. While the movie is shot in Birmingham, England and claims to reflect the biggest city of Pakistan, Karachi, it actually takes the viewers to somewhere in Kabul. There is nothing in the trailer which reflects Karachi except Adnan Shah, a Karachiite.

Just after the release of first trailer of Welcome to Karachi, Karachiites disowned the movie and strongly criticized Bollywood producers for showing wrong image of their city.

“Bollywood movie ‘Welcome to Karachi’ shows a totally wrong depiction of the city Karachi. This happens when you don’t research for the project. The film makers must know the difference between Karachi and Tora Bora. They’ve done exactly what “Homeland” did. This is what I could conclude after watching first trailer, lets see what do they have in the movie,” posted an advertising expert, Jibran T. Siddiqui on his Facebook profile.

“One more effort to blacken Karachi’s name, I guess the director and the cast have never been to this city,” said Ahsan Umar, an online TV host.

Welcome to Karachi revolves around two Indian friends, who leave for US in a ship but end up reaching Karachi.

The movie is set to release on May 21 2015.
