It was reported earlier that this year’s venture of Coke Studio will feature an Indian musician for the very first time, and that musician being none other than the talented Rabbi Shergill, who got famous for singing Bulleh Shah’s poetry “Bullah Ki Jaana Main Kaun” in 2005.
Rohail Hyatt, the producer of Coke Studio, recently spoke to The Express Tribune, revealing the exclusion of Rabbi Shergill from this year’s Coke Studio:
“We invited the talented Rabbi Shergill to the Coke Studio platform but his visa got delayed,” said Hyatt.
The Coke Studio producer further told, “Although he managed to make it at the very last minute, we were not able to do justice to his music and the platform, given the timelines. It’s just not the way we would like to welcome any outside talent to CS. So, I’ve decided not to use the music.”
Rabbi’s exclusion has came out as a surprise, but however, we’ll be seeing Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi, Sajjad Ali, and Kaavish delighting us with their intriguing performances in the next episode of Coke Studio Season 4, which will air next week.
