Since the news is out about Coke Studio India, I have been asked so many questions by my friends and fans about this Indian version, to which I am also very curious about and looking forward to. So just after a little effort I managed to get some more details on Coke Studio India.
As there were rumors about A.R.Rehman or Rohail Hyatt producing the Coke Studio India, we would like to confirm here that those were rumors only! The Coke Studio India will be produced by Leslie Lewis who is also supposed to be featured in the Coke Studio India as ‘mentor’.
MTV India will broadcast the show, the format of which will remain the same as an hour long show, featuring 4-5 artists in an episode.
Coke Studio, famous for merging traditional and contemporary folk music – is expected to start air in the month of June. ( Pakistan’s Coke Studio Season4 is expected to air in May 2011)
The first season of Indian Coke Studio will feature Shafqat Amanat Ali , who will be the only Pakistani singer in the season. Other artists as named by Rolling Stone India are: Advaita, Pankhi and Shruti Pathak. (which are Underground names , as told to us by an Indian friend)
According to some reports, Shahrukh Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment is producing the show in India.
