As a matter of fact, she has been honored with a lifetime achievement award in India by none other than Kaladharmi Begum Akhtar Academy of Ghazal. No one deserves the award more than Abida Parveen as she has been a pioneer of Ghazal throughout her life.

Born in the year 1954 to a Sindhi family having a well background of music, Abida Parveen showed interest in her field from an early age and was taught by her father Ustaad Ghulam Haider. The enthusiastic Abida was quite bright and eventually, made her debut in Radio Pakistan and that was just the start of something very special.

Abida Parveen claims that the honor was an unforgettable moment for her life and sang ‘Lall Meri Pat’ at the ceremony. Apart from that, it should be recalled that in 1982, the legend was awarded President of Pakistan’s Award for Pride of Performance and in 2005, she was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Abida Parveen is truly the most shining asset of the Pakistani music when it comes to ghazals and Sufiana Kalaam.
