Pakistani TV Producer wins World TV Award 2012

Karachi (8th June 2012) Rehan Ahmed, who works as a producer for Hum Network, has won an award for a documentary titled ‘ Ozone- the human factor’; based on the ozone crisis. He was honored with the prestigious award on 29th may at the 9th Asian Media Summit that took place in Bangkok, Thailand. Representatives from over 700 different television channels were present at the event, including Hum Television’s president Sultana Siddiqui, Ather Waqar Azeem, Muneeza Hashmi, Rehan Ahmen and Misbah Khalid. Rehan Ahmed is the first Pakistani and first Asian to win this award. It is important here to note that this year in March a three day workshop was organized by the Asia Pacific institute for Broadcasting Development with 18 countries in attendance including Pakistan. The purpose of this workshop was to educate TV personnel about the ozone issue and to motivate them to spread this message to TV audiences everywhere. All attendants were asked to submit programs based on the topic of the depletion of the ozone layer. The competition was also open to TV producers from all over the world.
