Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy made her nation proud by winning the first Oscar for Pakistan for a documentary film Saving Face. She landed at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, just yesterday with an Oscar in her hands greeted by fans and proud Pakistanis around.

Sharmeen, who was born in Karachi, also holds Canadian nationality, but her heart belongs to the Pakistani nation. Sharmeen thanked Pakistan for its support and encouragement and expressed her joy in bringing home the Oscar.

She addressed the media in a press conference later that day and was pictured alongside some of the victims she had shown in her film covering the story of their plight. Sharmeen has also started a campaign to stop the sale of acid in such a way all over Pakistan.
