“Didn’t know how we were suppose to win but thought the effort is worth it.
Waited for our sound check n prepared a complete medley for all of you one night prior to the finale. It sounded beautiful with the blend of amazing Sufi poetries but we had to go with Plan B ( pehli nazar )( it was the only live performance in the Sur Kshetra grand finale ,,, Jonathan always amuses me with his notes. It was very well received by the audience and the legends as well but I wanted to share my kinda music which soon all of u will be hearing in the near future.
Honestly I didn’t know that we are going to win but Allah is very kind and all my efforts worked out in the end. I know how I have supported my team emotionally, morally and financially. Probably I wasn’t gonna get anything out of it as our nation celebrates negative news or a loss more as compare to a gud news or a win 🙂
The journey gave me alot of patience n made me represent this country in a way which has never been done before. I was sick throughout all the episodes and we had to struggle with timings of the shooting as well ( 17 hours a day ), but meeting Abida Parveen was worth all the delays. Amazingly beautiful Soul she has, I remember one of those days where I came to see her off to her car and opened the door for her, she wouldn’t let me do it. Finally when that happened she said “”” Dargha ap k dil mein rehti hai “”” One of the beautiful backstage moments for me. The second one was when I performed “”Man Kunto Maula”” with her, the energy was amazing
Winning the finale reminded me of 92 worldcup and the celebrations were as exuberant as that win.
I signed this show because I wanted these 10 contestants to be heard all over the world and to make the world see what PAKISTAN has. I wish they will maintain their standards throughout their lives and remember the journey of Surkshetra as I remember MY first pay cheque of 500 Rs.”
