The voice of Subcontinent, and the nephew of a legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has applauded the services of his great Uncle in promoting Qawwali throughout the world. Rahat said that he too has stepped into Qawwali singing in order to maintain the ancestral tradition. The man with breath taking vocals said that Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has introduced the art of Qawwali in the world, and after the death of his Uncle it was a tough task for him to maintain their position in Qawwali singing.
He said,”It was a challenge for me to serve Qawwali the same way as my ancestors did but I am giving my best to continue the tradition.” Rahat while talking to a local news source said that many people accedes him with the name Ustad, while he consider himself as an average student of this vast art. The singer also added that Qawwali is their familial business and his ancestors were paying homage at the tombs of religious personalities with Qawwali over centuries.
Considering the fact that music runs in the family, it is safe to say that Rahat is indeed a diamond for the present music era. His singing, both modern and Sufi is catchy one. His demand in the neighboring music industry and Bollywood has helped him a lot to prove himself.
