The 44-year-old Indian actor Rahul Bose is known for playing different and challenging roles in Bollywood. His Bengali films Antaheen, Kaalpurush, and Anuranan, amongst others, have all won awards. The latest about Bose is that he has now decided to make an English film based on a Pakistani novel.
He said during an interview while attending a programme in Kolkata that:
“I will be making an English movie based on a Pakistani novel.”
Rahul Bose has planned on giving his concentrated efforts toward making this film to be just as he wants. To present this movie, he will not be participating in any other production. He said:
“I won’t be available for any other movies during that period of August, September and October.”
Currently though, he is working in a few films simultaneously. He is expected to be seen in a film based on the life of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore called Shesher Kabita. The Movie is directed by the National Award-winning director, Suman Mukhopadhyay. The film also stars Konkona Sen Sharma and will start its production shortly.
It is great that a Pakistani novel has been picked up by an Indian filmmaker who believes in the quality of content and strength of a story written from a Pakistani perspective. If more Pakistani novels turn into movies made by a cinema that has better exposure in the world, it will also help bring Pakistani society in a limelight through an artist’s viewpoints. This will be yet another exchange of art between Pakistan and India.
