It is with utmost disappointment that I have to write an article about the television channels of my very own country which are indulging in the violation of the ban imposed by the Country’s regulator, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Recently, PTA blocked the most used video sharing website YouTube because it refused to remove the trailer of the anti-Islamic film, “Innocence of Muslims.”
A large majority of the Pakistani television channels have uploaded their videos on their official YouTube channel in order to achieve popularity and increase their viewers. How these television channels are able to access YouTube despite the PTA ban is still unknown and filled with uncertainties. It is an extremely sad spectacle for every sane person who believes himself lucky to have a Muslim identity.
It is observed that there are many other websites on the internet which can be utilized – without any proxies whatsoever – in order to reach the extremely popular video sharing website; making it easier for the common Pakistani to safely access YouTube.
