[Islamabad – 19 Feb 2015] Burka Avenger, Pakistan’s first ever full length 3D animated TV series about a female superhero has been nominated for the International Emmy Kids Award (Category: Animation). The nominations span 17 countries and were announced by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. This is the first time that a Pakistani show has been nominated for the prestigious award.
The official Emmy Award Ceremony will be held on February 20, 2015 in New York. Famous Pakistani rockstar and the Producer / Director of the Burka Avenger TV series, Haroon will be attending the event on behalf of Unicorn Black along with famous model / actor Ainy Jaffri Rahman (the voice behind the lead character Jiya / Burka Avenger).

The brainchild of Pakistani rock star and social activist Haroon, Burka Avenger is an action-comedy animated TV series that follows the adventures of Burka Avenger and three young kids in the imaginary city of Halwapur as they fight the evil Baba Bandook and his henchmen.
The multi-award winning series features Jiya as the inspirational school teacher and her alter ego, the super-heroine Burka Avenger. Her use of books and pens as projectile weapons is symbolic on many levels. The Burka Avenger fights for Justice, Peace and Education for all.
The series was produced by Haroon’s production company, Unicorn Black. The Unicorn Black production team is based in Islamabad, Pakistan and comprises of artists, animators, musicians, writers and producers. After the amazing success of season one, Season 2 was launched on February 1, 2015 on Nickelodeon Pakistan. Season 2 airs daily at 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
Burka Avenger has also received several other international awards and accolades including the prestigious Peabody Award. Time Magazine named the Burka Avenger character as one of the most influential fictional characters of 2013.
