The trend of horror movies gained pace in Pakistan with the release of Zibah Khana, Zinda Laash and Siyaah. However; this time around one horrific fun flick is all set to hit theatres soon. This movie called Waking Dead has been directed by our very own independent film-maker Usman Mukhtar.
The movie has been shot in Dubai and features Dubai-based actors Nidhi Jha, Nadia Williams and Nitin Mirani in lead roles. Waking Dead is a collaborative project of Usman Mukhtar and Muse Dubai. This zom-com movie is expected to be released in the coming two months. The screenplay of this movie have been written by Shahana Khan.
Usman Mukhtar’s previous projects include Aasia, Whattay Scary, Black Coffee and I Dream a Day. The co-founder of Muse Dubai, Roha Daud, appreciated Usman’s work and said,
“A zomcom in particular, hasn’t been shot on this scale locally, making it a great collaboration between South Asia and the Middle East, based on talent”.
Accroding to Rehaab Daud, the CEO of Muse Dubai:
“Although the film industry in UAE is steadily growing, I haven’t heard of any [movies] being made in this genre”.
