Red Bull BC One All Stars Pakistan Workshop officially kicked-off on the 26th of June, 2013 in Islamabad. For the first time two of the world’s best B-Boys ‘Lilou and Pelezinho’ conducted a workshop in Islamabad to explore and experience the B-Boy scene in the capital city of Pakistan. Both Lilou and Pelezinho took this opportunity to teach and share their knowledge about B-Boying with the local B-Boys present at the event. The workshop took place at Kuch Khass where young B-Boys from all across Islamabad turned up to meet their favourite B-Boy Legends ‘Lilou and Pelezinho’ in action and most importantly in-person, in their own country Pakistan.
After the registration process that took place from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm on the same day, 25 B-Boys from Islamabad showcased their B-Boying skills in front of Lilou and Pelezinho. Originally scheduled from 4-7 pm, the enthusiasm and passion displayed by the young B-Boys of Islamabad resulted in the workshop extending for another half an hour. The workshop started with Lilou and Pelezinho teaching the B-Boys some new, creative B-Boying steps. This was followed by the 25 local B-Boys unveiling their B-Boying talent that left both Lilou and Pelezinho impressed. In his own words Lilou said ‘There is so much potential here (Islamabad) that with a little bit of help and guidance these young B-Boys can be the next big thing in the B-Boying World’.
The Red Bull BC One All Stars form a team of internationally renowned dancers. They represent the best of the best in the scene. Each of the seven crew members is an outstanding individual and brings a certain style, skill and move to the group — from hardcore powermoves to intricate footwork. Together they will showcase the art of B-Boying, teach and share their knowledge about Hip Hop culture and their incredible art form. Lilou and Pelezinho have been part of the Red Bull BC One, the world’s most important one-on-one B-Boy battle. Pelézinho from Brazil is the master of acrobatic and powerful moves and flips; his style includes elements of capoeira and samba. Cico, from Italy, represents Europe. He’s the “Prince of Power” and holds the world record in 1990’s where he rapidly spins in a one-armed handstand. Lilou, the officiating champion completes the crew; the B-Boy from France with Algerian roots is the only bboy to have won the Red Bull BC One twice. He is the story telling dancer, his funny but polarizing character and style never fail to engage the audience. Their years of experience along with exceptional skills and their humble personalities, entitle them to become ambassadors of their culture. They have proven their mastery and now their main goal is giving back to the community by spreading the message of Hip Hop culture, where being creative, disciplined and respectful are the most important things.
After Islamabad, Lilou and Pelezinho will now head to Lahore where they will be conducting a workshop to explore and experience the B-Boy scene in the cultural hub of Pakistan on the 28th of June. This will be followed by a workshop in Karachi on the 30th of June where the biggest B-Boying community resides in the country.
