When New York-based Indian film director Mira Nair offered Meesha Shafi a role in Mohsin Hamid’s novel adaption of ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’, Meesha could not have been happier and taking advantage of the opportunity, quickly accepted it. “Opportunity comes, and I’ve been very lucky with that,” states the enthusiastic Meesha. The film marks the talented Meesha’s Hollywood debut and co-stars Kate Hudson, Riz Ahmed, Live Schreiber, Kiefer Sutherland and Om Puri.

However, the presence of Meesha in the film has been on the verge of doubt among the fans as the newly released trailer does not feature the singer-turned-actress at all. With the hope of Meesha being in the film one way or the other, supporters claim that being in the 2-hour film is more important than being in a 2-minute trailer. Hottest word surrounding Meesha’s role in the film is that it seems to be highly an insignificant one.

Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist is to be released on the 29th of August, 2012. Speaking of Meesha Shafi’s Hollywood debut, her next English film is titled ‘The Tournament of Shadows’ whose release date is as of late not known to the public.
