Sarmad Abdul Ghafoor is not just a big time music producer but also a gifted musician. Since 2008, the talented musician has been playing the rhythm and lead guitars for the progressive rock band from Islamabad, Qayaas. Having released just one studio album, the band still managed to achieve a lot of recognition as two years back, Qayaas won the Best Rock Band award at the Rolling Stones-Jack Daniels; the first Pakistani band to accomplish such an incredible feet.
Sadly, Sarmad Ghafoor will not be along for the ride anymore as he has parted ways. The official Qayaas band facebook page, which consists of more than fifty-one thousand fans, stated:
“We are very sad to announce to you all that our dear brother and friend, Sarmad Ghafoor, will no longer be a part of the band. We respect his contribution in tracking, mixing and mastering our first album “Uss Paar” not to mention his amazing skills on the guitar. Let all of us take some time to wish him all the best for his future. We request that our privacy be respected and hope that no unnecessary speculation starts. We have parted ways amicably and are close friends and brothers which will remain so. We have immense respect and love for him. Qayaas will be moving forward and there will be lots of new stuff coming before the New Year.”
