There is nothing to prove that the legendary Sabri Brothers had originally sung the famous Qawali “Bhar Do Jholi Meri,” at the peak of their career. This Qawwali was famous in Pakistan as well as in India, from where they migrated after partition in 1947. Now, when none of the Sabri Brothers is alive, Amjad Sabri, the son of Ghulam Faird Sabri, claims to inherit the rights of their compositions and set to take legal action against Adnan Sami Khan for singing without his permission.
Recently, the former Pakistani pop singer and now a renowned Bollywood music producer in India, Adnan Sami Khan has sung “Bhar Do Jholi Meri,” in Salman Khan starrer upcoming Indian movie, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan.” But according to Amjad Sabri, the son of Ghulam Farid Sabri, the Bollywood composer had neither taken his permission, nor given proper credits to Sabri Brothers.

Amjad Sabri, in a video message with Waqar Zaka has complained that Adnan Sami Khan has neither given credit to his father nor taken his permission. Sabri added that they have just mentioned in a news that the Qawwali was a tribute to Sabri Brothers, which was not a proper way to give credits. “Their (Sabri Brothers) son is still alive and working, he (Adnan) should have asked for permission,” said Amjad Sabri.
In a reply to Waqar’s question that if he has sold the melody of his father, Sabri replied, “I haven’t, and I am looking forward to take a legal action.”
