Second Unit photography is to begin in Karachi early next month while Principal Photography is scheduled to take place in March 2016. Whereas SHAH featured a completely new cast and crew, the new film will have a few big names of the industry attached to it.
SHAH was based on the true story of Pakistani Olympian boxer Syed Hussain Shah who started his life as a homeless child on the streets of Karachi and went on to become the first South Asian athlete to win an Olympics Medal in boxing at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
“Unlike our first film, where my team and I were virtual unknowns working on a shoestring budget, there are now a lot of expectations with this next project”, said Adnan. “Shah, of course, will be a tough act to follow content wise. The only thing I can say at this point is that the second film will once again be a completely different kind of story and genre and that it is not a biopic. I have respectfully turned down the standard romantic comedy roles that were offered to me after my first film and I do not wish to do consecutive biopics as an actor. My team and I have a clear vision of what we want to bring to Pakistani cinema and our next film will be another step in that direction”.
