Pakistan’s biggest sports and entertainment product, Pakistan Super League, launched yesterday as the Pakistan Super League logo & anthem unveiling took place in Lahore. Celebrities like Ali Azmat, Ali Zafar, Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Ayesha Omar, Iman Ali, Aijaz Aslam, Nadia Hussain, Urwa Hussain, Gohar Mumtaz, Farhan Saeed, Cybil Chaudhry from the entertainment industry were spotted at the event which hosted numerous cricket legends & Pakistan’s men & women national cricket teams.
With a corporate vision in place, the PSL team put together an exciting show of entertainment in a star studded ceremony in the provincial capital of Punjab. From interesting cricketers & celebrities interactions on stage, to a rocking performance by Ali Zafar on the official anthem, sung & composed by him, the event proved to be the start of a new entertainment filled cricket era. Country’s leading music band, Strings, performed live at the event, mesmerizing the audience with their hit numbers. Ali Zafar, once again proved that he truly deserves to be the voice of the nation with giving a foot tapping anthem, ‘Khel Ke Dikha Denge Aaj’. He was requested to perform his Coke Studio hit, Rockstar, after the anthem which was launched after the logo unveiling with a pumping performance on stage. To top it all, the event team had also put together a unique 3D projection mapping of the logo unveiling.
Speaking about the event, Chairman Governing Council Mr. Najam Sethi said: “We want everyone to know that we are here and we are here with a purpose. We will not settle for anything less than making PSL one of the leading products that has ever come out of Pakistan.”
In a message to the fans, Ali Zafar talked about his experience of creating and singing the official PSL anthem: “This is a song that is really close to my heart because I have been an ardent cricket fan all my life. PSL will be a great collective platform for entertainment and cricket alike.”
The PSL Brand Ambassador Ramiz Raja, who hosted the event with, also spoke about his excitement for the event: “I have experienced cricket and entertainment going together in various parts of the world but to now get associated with a Pakistani product is an entirely different experience. I think Pakistanis will proudly own the PSL.”
The Pakistan Super League is a franchise-based T20 cricket tournament set to take place in February 2016. With top cricket players like Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Grant Elliot, Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard, and Luke Wright on the PSL draft roster, the tournament has already started to create a buzz in cricketing circles all across the globe. According to newspaper reports, around 10 parties have shown active interest in buying the 5 teams up for grabs in the first edition of the PSL. The four provincial capitals – Quetta, Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar – will be joined by Islamabad in a 5-team, 24-match tournament.
