Pakistani heartthrob Imran Abbas, the star of legendary director Muzaffar Ali’s comeback film – Kotwara Studio’s Jaanisaar – helped its cast and crew, including producer Meera Ali, and debutante co-star Pernia Qureshi and Pakistani classical singer Shafqat Ali launch the music of the movie at a well-attended sangeet event.
The theme and ambience of the evening – Awadh – was in tune with Jaanisaar’s storyline set in the pre-Independence era of a courtesan (Pernia Qureshi) deeply rooted in the ethos of the Indian culture’s love affair with an Indian prince (Imran Abbas) who has returned from England.
Musically, Jaanisaar boasts the crème de la crème of both the Bollywood and Pakistan’s music industries including Shreya Ghoshal, Sukhwinder Singh, Malini Awasthi, Abida Parveen and Shafqat Ali who flew down especially to Mumbai for the music launch.
The sangeet evening, held at a five star hotel in Andheri, Mumbai saw the coterie of talent render a slew of scintillating live performances which began with a smooth dance performance by Pernia Qureshi on the popular classical dance number – ‘Humein Bhi Pyaar Kar Le’ from the film followed by Shafqat Ali singing live the film’s other songs.
Producer Meera Ali was all praise for the movie composers Shafqat Ali and Muzaffar Ali:
“Jaanisaar is not a regular Bollywood film. And since it’s set in the pre-Independence era, the music has to be different and soulful. I have been very fortunate to have Shafqat and Muzaffar Ali who came up with soulful compositions.”
Jaanisaar is scheduled to release on August 7, 2015
