Zoe Viccaji ’s brand new debut album “Dareeche” is finally released and the music launch of it took place in Karachi at South End Club on 9th September 2014.
However scheduled around 7:30, the actual show started around 9PM and the crowd consisted of people from the fields of television, film, media, radio and arts including the close family relatives.
Zoe’s album “Dareeche” as described by the singer herself is a personal album that is quite close to her heart and includes lyrics that she has written herself and is based on her true life incidents. It’s a mixture of pop tunes blended with various western genres; to be more specific it’s more like a grand melodious marriage of funk, fusion, pop, classical and jazz music under a single CD case.
The evening started with a humble welcome note by the singer followed by her live performances which included few songs of her brand new album along with the covers of popular songs. The backing vocals were given by her sister Rachel Viccaji while on guitars; it was his brother Cyrus Viccaji who did the job and kept the audience in awestruck positions. The event was organized by popular tea label, Tapal with the association of ARY Muzik and City FM89 and the invited guests were given goodie hampers to keep the spirit alive.
Dareeche contains original compositions and more to that on request of fans, Zoe has included couple of her cover renditions too which has gathered her much attention on social media. The cover songs that are included in the album are Mera Bichra Yaar by popular rock band, Strings and Neend Aati Nahin by the Sufi rock legends, Junoon. The musical structure of entire album is simply a magical roller-coaster ride that swings between the genres of jazz and eastern pop where as there are two songs which include sitar as a main instrument.
Media personalities that attended the launch to name were Mathira, Ayesha Omar, Anoushey Ashraf, RJ Faizan, Rubya Choudhry, Meher Jafri, Sikandar Mufti, Nida Butt, Marina Khan, Sarwat Gillani, Pheby Haroon, Munizeh Sanai, Ali Alam and etc.
