Pakistani Oscar winner Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has been invited by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences U.S.A to join the organization as a participating member.
This is the first time a Pakistani artist has ever been invited to join the prestigious platform. The Organization has extended the same invitation to 276 artists from all over the world who have made exceptional contributions to theatrical motion pictures. The artists who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy’s membership in 2013.
“Being invited to join the Academy of Motion Pictures is a great honor and privilege; I feel humbled to be the first Pakistani to gain membership into such a prestigious institution, and I hope that I witness the induction of many more Pakistanis in the years to come.” said Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy on receiving the invitation.
