Musician Paid Tribute To Faiz Ahmad Faiz

Faiz Ahmad Faiz, an avowed supporter of Sufism and a renowned poet of urdu language was paid a tribute by some leading showbiz celebrities and musicians, on Faiz’s anniversary. The festival, a part of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s 102nd birth anniversary celebrations, was organised by Faiz Aman Mela Committee and Awami Workers Party, in collaboration with the Punjab Council of Arts.

The event held under the supervision of Pakistan Television who barred all other private channels from covering the event. The free entry event attracted a large gathering of general public to the event. Most of the artists including Sumbul Raja, Waris Baig, Malkoo, Ragni, Arif Lohar performed recorded songs, while many Indian guests including Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Ila Arun, some PTV announcers and the organisers including Salima Hashmi, Fozia Saeed and Arshad Mehmood threw themselves into the moment to dance to the beat of these songs.

The other live performances included a performance by the Jutt brothers who performed folk songs and Tarannum Naz who sang “Mujh Se Pehli Si Mohabbat”. Apart from this event, Tina Sani– an internationally acclaimed classical singer’s concert held later that evening, where she presented some new and vintage numbers of Faiz.
