American music icon, Madonna, dedicated a song to Malala Yousafzai in her recent concert that took place in Los Angeles, USA.
Malala, a 14 year old Pakistani child activist who raised her voice against the atrocities of Taliban, was shot in the head and neck on 9th October 2012. While Madonna’s LA show was on its peak, she asked the huge crowd of 18,000 that its time “to have our serious chat” – No one had any idea what she was going to talk about.
“This made me cry,” the singer said. “The 14-year-old schoolgirl who wrote a blog about going to school. The Taliban stopped her bus and shot her. Do you realize how sick that is?” Madonna added.
She then shouted and chanted slogans like “Support Education! Support Women!” and the crowd responded back with the approval for her stance.
According to a news report on Hollywood Reporter, “Later in the show, Madonna performed a striptease, during which she turned her back to the audience to reveal the name “Malala” stenciled across it.”
“This song is for you, Malala” were the words before Madonna jumped over her next song “Human Nature”.
Updated 24 October 2012: To our surprise, After Madonna dedicated a song to Malala, another young and popular American Singer Selena Gomez has paid tribute to the young Pakistani Student. Gomez has placed Malala’s photo as profile picture on her official Facebook page. Selena Gomez has over 34 Million fans on a Facebook page only.
